LoadingAccounting software can produce an invoice, but it doesn't know the job behind it. Cushty raises the invoice from the job itself, with a card payment link attached, any deposit already taken shown as a deduction, and the domestic reverse charge wording where it applies. Invoices and payments then push to Xero, so the books stay where your accountant expects them.
Most trades already have somewhere an invoice can be typed: an accounts package, a spreadsheet or a Word template. Accounting software is good at the books — VAT returns, bank feeds, the accountant's view of the year. What it doesn't have is the job: who did the work, what was quoted, what deposit was taken and whether it has been signed off. So someone in the office re-types it. Invoicing software built for a service business starts from the other end: the invoice is raised from the job record, and the accounting package receives it afterwards. That is how Cushty works, with Xero kept as the place the books live. It is not a replacement for your accounting software.
This page covers why invoicing belongs with the job rather than in an accounts package. The feature page covers the mechanics: the ready-to-invoice queue, deposits, reminders, CIS and the Xero push.
See how invoicing works in CushtyBecause the invoice is the last step of the job, and the job is already in Cushty.
The customer, the site and the work are already on the job, and a deposit taken against the accepted quote comes off the final invoice as a deduction. The office raises the invoice rather than rebuilding it.
Cushty raises the invoice and takes the card payment, and both are pushed to Xero afterwards, one way, so your accountant keeps working where they already do. QuickBooks is on the roadmap, not live.
Commercial and subcontract work brings the domestic reverse charge, CIS and retention with it. Cushty puts the reverse charge wording on the invoice, records retention until it is released, and works out CIS on payments to your subcontractors. Filing the CIS300 with HMRC stays with you or your accountant.
Switch reminders on and Cushty emails a polite chase after the due date and a firmer final notice later, on timings you set. The office can see who has been chased and what is still outstanding.
