FAQ
Questions, answered
The things UK service businesses ask before choosing Cushty. If your question isn't here, get in touch — we'll answer it directly.
Getting started
Do I need to install any software?
No. Cushty runs in your browser on any phone, tablet or computer. Engineers don't need to download an app to use it on site.
How do I get started with Cushty?
Two ways. You can sign up at portal.cushty.io/sign-up, set up your workspace and pick a plan whenever you're ready — your dedicated environment is provisioned by our team within 2–5 working days of subscribing. Or book a demo if you'd rather see it applied to your business first; we'll walk you through it and onboard you afterwards.
Do I have to book a demo before I can sign up?
No. You can create a portal account right now and look around for free — you only pay when you subscribe. A demo is the right call if you want a guided walkthrough or are weighing us against another tool, but it's not a gate.
Can I try Cushty before paying?
Yes — the portal itself is free to sign up and explore. You can set up your workspace, invite teammates and see how things are laid out without entering a card. You only start paying when you pick a plan and provision your dedicated environment.
How long does onboarding take?
Most businesses are running real jobs in Cushty within a week. We configure the platform around your workflow, import your existing customers and walk your team through the parts they'll use.
Pricing & contracts
How is Cushty priced?
Solo is £149/month and includes 1 staff account. Team is £249/month and includes 8 staff accounts, with additional staff accounts at £30/month each. Each plan also has a one-off implementation fee — £149 on Solo and £249 on Team — charged separately from the monthly subscription. Your customers use the client portal free and never count towards your staff accounts. Every customer gets the full platform — jobs, quoting, invoicing, the client portal and integrations — from day one.
Is there a contract or implementation fee?
No long-term contract — Cushty is month to month, cancel any time from your account settings. There is a one-off implementation fee (£149 on Solo, £249 on Team, quoted on Custom), charged separately from your recurring subscription. It covers provisioning and configuring your dedicated environment; everything after that is included in the monthly price.
Product
Does Cushty work on mobile?
Yes. The platform is built mobile-first for engineers in the field. Assigned jobs, photo uploads, notes and customer sign-off all work on any phone or tablet — no app to download.
Can my customers use Cushty too?
Yes. Every customer gets their own portal where they can see job status, approve and sign quotes, and pay invoices by card. They don't need an account or password — they get in via a secure email link. Completed work is signed off on the engineer's phone on site, or through a separate secure emailed link.
What integrations do you support?
Xero for accounting (invoices and payments are pushed to Xero automatically; nothing is pulled back), Stripe for online card payments paid straight into your own Stripe account, and built-in customer messaging. Quotes, invoices, follow-ups and overdue reminders go by email; booking confirmations, day-before reminders and on-the-way notices go by text to opted-in customers.
How do I collect payments from customers?
Customers can pay by card through Stripe — every invoice carries a payment link and the payment is reconciled against the invoice automatically. You can also record bank transfers and cash payments by hand. Deposits on accepted quotes are supported and show as a deduction on the final invoice.
Does Cushty integrate with QuickBooks?
Xero is supported today. QuickBooks is on the roadmap — let us know if you need it and we'll prioritise it.
Can Cushty be customised to how my business works?
Within the shape of the product, yes — that's part of what the dedicated environment is for. We set up your job types, quote line-item presets, recurring templates, branded documents and terminology to match how you already operate. What we don't do is add custom database fields: the job, client and site records have a fixed shape, and anything outside it lives in notes and attachments.
Trust & data
Is Cushty built for UK businesses?
Yes. VAT handling, GBP pricing, British date formats, Xero integration with UK tax codes and Stripe payments paid straight into your UK Stripe account.
Where is my data hosted?
In the UK, in line with UK and EU data protection standards. Every customer gets a dedicated environment — your data doesn't share a database with any other Cushty customer.
Is my data secure and backed up?
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, every business runs in its own isolated database, and we take daily automated backups of your entire environment.
Who owns my data?
You do. If you ever leave Cushty, we'll provide a full export of your jobs, customers, quotes and invoices.
Support
What support do you offer?
UK email support from people who understand how service businesses actually run. We respond quickly and we build what customers ask for — Cushty is shaped by what real users need, not a generic roadmap.
How quickly do you reply?
We aim to reply within one working day, usually faster. Subscribed customers get priority. Onboarding and live-issue questions go to the front of the queue.
Who's behind Cushty?
A small UK team that has run and worked with service businesses for years. The people who answer your support email are the same people who build the product.
